POSITION DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: Accountant/HR Specialists and others as assigned

POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, serves as the Oquirrh Recreation and Parks District Controller.
Directs and supports the maintaining, administering, and developing of financial systems, services, and
programs including budget, payables, payroll, and analysis of financial data. Provide support with human
resource and IT functions. Supervises Accounting/HR Specialists and others as assigned. Provides support
and reporting to the District Board of Trustees. May serve as acting Director upon the absence of the Director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
1. Directs financial activities of the District
2. Human Resources compliance and responsibilities
3. Coordinate insurance needs for the District
4. Support and assist with Board of Trustees
5. Supervises Accounting and other staff.
6. Coordinates Information Technology support
7. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
a) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance –
or a combination of education and relevant experience totaling nine years.
b) Five years directly related work experience.
c) Three years supervisory experience.
d) Knowledge of governmental accounting, financial accounting, budgeting, and GAAP.
e) Ability to resolve complex accounting problems, including internal controls, and recommend changes in policies
and procedures.
f) Ability to design and maintain various accounting systems and to detect, analyze, interpret, and report potential
fiscal findings.
g) Thorough knowledge of Excel, automated payroll, and software such as QuickBooks Enterprise.
h) Ability to prepare and present technical reports both orally and in writing.
i) Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
j) Ability to work in a team environment and relate to the general public.
k) Must be bondable and possess a valid driver’s license.
Desired Qualifications:
a) Master’s Degree in accounting or business from an accredited college or university
b) Additional years of experience in accounting and supervisory role
c) Knowledge of Local District requirements and regulations

Lifeguards 


Wage: $10 – 15 /hour
Description:
Under the direction of the Aquatics Safety Supervisor, help ensure the safety and supervision of the patrons in and around the Aquatic areas of the Fitness Center.

Paid training classes.  Benefits include Free KOPFC membership, Flexible work schedule, Opportunity to work throughout the year.

You must be at least 15 years old by the time the training class ends and be able to pass the pre-screening test by the end of the class, which consists of the following skills:

  1. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
  2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
  3. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

■ Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.
■ Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.

Participants will also be required to pass All final written and practical exams for CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid; Lifeguarding/ Waterpark Lifeguarding Skills. As part of the requirements for receiving American Red Cross course completion certificates, participants must pass each written exam with minimum score of 80 percent.

RSA – Receptionist Sales Associate (Morning / Weekends – Front Counter Cashier)


Starting wage: $9.25 /hour                                          
Reports to: Operations Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Responsible for Fitness Center admissions, memberships, sales, and customer service functions
  • Greet patrons and admit them in a timely manner
  • Ensure that proper fees are being charged to patrons
  • Control the flow of patrons and visitors past the front desk
  • Sell retail items to patrons
  • Orient parents in regard to policies and procedures that must be followed
  • Answer phone calls and provide requested information or transfer to the appropriate personnel
  • Reconcile cash drawer following all related policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and communicate closely with Center personnel to ensure that required information is obtained and conveyed to the public
  • Responsible for maintaining the professional atmosphere of the Fitness Center
  • Give excellent customer service to the patrons of the Fitness Center
  • Summer months also work daily admissions in Kiosk

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Excellent public relations skills
  • Ability to relate well with children and adults
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions
  • Willingness to assist others
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, and the general public
  • Ability to stand for periods at a time

 


Aquatics Swim Instructor


Starting Pay: $10/hour (paid training also)

Description: Under the direction of the Aquatics Program Supervisor, responsible for the instruction and safety of students enrolled in assigned aquatic classes at the Fitness Center. Responsible for performing assigned instructor duties in an effective manner. Assume responsibility for maintaining positive relations with patrons. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with personnel and management.

Minimum Qualifications:
Obtain training as a swim instructor through a District approved training program. Ability to pass a District prepared water test. Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, supervisors, and other employees. Excellent swimming and lifesaving abilities. Alert, attentive, and responsible and ability to be a team player.

Must be 16 or older.

Childcare Attendant 


Starting Pay: $9.50/hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  1. Responsible for the safety and operation of the childcare area of the Fitness Center
    a. Greet parents as they come in to drop off their children
    b. Ensure that proper check-in/check-out procedures are followed
    c. Register new children and ensure that all information is filled out and given to the proper personnel
    d. Orient parents regarding policies and procedures that must be followed
    e. Attentively watch and attend to the children in the childcare area
    f.  Develop and implement activities for the children in the childcare center
    g. Discipline children, when necessary, using appropriate and authorized disciplinary techniques
    h. Ensure the cleanliness of the children and the childcare area by helping children go to the bathroom, washing hands, cleaning spills, picking up trash, putting away & washing toys, vacuum each shift, etc.
    i. Treat children if hurt and fill out accident reports
    j. Be willing to work evenings and/or days, if necessary
    k. Must be 18 years or older

 


Night Time Custodian

Starting Wage:                           Starting at $9.85
Position Reports to:                  Physical Facilities Supervisor
Position Purpose:                      Under the direction of the Physical Facility Supervisor, perform activities to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the Fitness Center.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • One year related experience.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and techniques, sanitation tools and equipment and cleaning agents and their use.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge in the types and use of machines, tools and equipment related to cleaning a fitness center.
  • Ability to relate well with supervisors, subordinates, co-workers and the general public.

Hours: Based on needs.

Position Reports to: Facilities Supervisors
Position Purpose: Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisors, preform activities to ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of the Fitness Center.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School graduate or equivalent.
  2. At least 18 years of age.
  3. A valid driver’s license.
  4. Capable of lifting 100lbs.
  5. Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  6. Ability to work independently.
  7. Knowledgeable in the type and use of machines, tools and equipment related to maintaining a Fitness Center.
  8. Ability to relate well with supervisors, subordinates, co-workers and general public.
