Position Title: Security Specialist (Part time)
Starting pay: $20.00 per hour
Position reports to: Operations Manager
Position Purpose: Under the direction of the Operations Manager, responsible for performing and overseeing Fitness Center security functions. Ensure that order is maintained and that applicable laws and Center rules are followed.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  1. Responsible for the professional performance of assigned security functions
  2. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective public relations with patrons, visitors, members of the public, and law enforcement agencies
  3. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Center personnel and management

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. At least 21 years of age
  2. Security Officer must be actively employed by a law enforcement agency (i.e. federal, state, county or local police department) in the capacity as a law enforcement officer and/or special functions officer.
  3. Six months experience in law enforcement
  4. Knowledge of Center rules and applicable and local and state laws
  5. Excellent public relations skills
  6. Strong crowd control abilities
  7. Ability to work under stressful situations
  8. Willingness to assist others and be patient

Lifeguard Applicant must be Red Cross Certified or take a Red Cross Lifeguard course prior to application

Salary: $8.00 to $11.81
Location: Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center, Kearns, UT 84118
Description: Under the direction of the Aquatics Safety Supervisor, help ensure the safety and supervision of the patrons in and around the Aquatic areas of the Fitness Center.

How to enroll in a Lifeguard Training course at KOPFC, you must be at least 15 years old by the time the class ends and be able to pass the pre-screening test, which consists of the following skills:

  1. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used.
  2. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
  3. Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

■ Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.
■ Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.

Participants will also be required to pass All final written and practical exams for CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid; Lifeguarding/ Waterpark Lifeguarding Skills. As part of the requirements for receiving American Red Cross course completion certificates, participants must pass each written exam with minimum score of 80 percent.

Aquatics Swim Instructor (Part Time)     Download Application


Salary: $9.00-12.32/hr Private lessons 65% of revenue generated from the private lesson
Location: Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center, Kearns, UT 84118
Description: Under the direction of the Aquatics Program Supervisor, responsible for the instruction and safety of students enrolled in assigned aquatic classes at the Fitness Center. Responsible for performing assigned instructor duties in an effective manner. Assume responsibility for maintaining positive relations with patrons. .Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with personnel and management. Willing and available to work early mornings, mid-day, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications – Obtain training as a swim instructor through a District approved training program. Ability to pass a District prepared water test. Ability to communicate effectively with patrons, supervisors, and other employees. Excellent swimming and lifesaving abilities. Alert, attentive, and responsible and ability to be a team player.

 

Jr. Aquatic Instructor     Download Application  


Description: If you are a 11 – 14 year old, interested in becoming a future swim instructor this program is for you.  There are limited spots available and applicants will be chosen by experience, availability and maturity.  Applications must be turned in by April 28, 2017.  Interviews will be set up by appointments after April 28, 2017.  Interview dates are: May 3, 4, 6, 8 & 9.  Note: All applicants will be asked to go through an interview and a swim check.  Payments will not be accepted until applicant has been accepted into the program.

Swim Check Skills required – *50 yard Freestyle, *50 yard Backstroke, *25 yard Butterfly or Breastroke, *1 minute tread/15 seconds no hands.

Fee if chosen to participant in class: $68.00 or $55.00 if a KOPFC member.  Class dates will be May 16, 17, 22 – 6:15 pm – 8:30 pm.  & May 20 – 9:00 am – noon.

  • At least 15 years of age.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to relate well with supervisors, subordinates, co-workers and the general public.

Hours:   8 – 20 hours per week. Based on needs.
